Job Title: Electro-Mechanical Technician

Pay Rate: $36/hr with additional shift differential for 2nd (+ $0.50) and 3rd (+ $0.30)

Type of Facility: 24/7/365 Dairy Ingredient Plant: The plant in Constantine, Michigan is Level 3 SQF certified and has a capacity of 3 million pounds of milk per day. The plant processes milk into cream, condensed skim, lactose free ultra-filtered milk, and lactose concentrate. 

Shift Makeup:

  • Have openings on 2nd (2pm – 10pm) and 3rd (10pm – 6am)
  • Straight 8 hour shifts — paid lunches taken when time allows
  • 40 hour assigned work week —- Sun – Thurs or Tues – Sat
  • OT is on a bid system based on seniority

Must Have:

  • 5+ years of Industrial Manufacturing experience
    • Dairy facility and/or foods production preferred
  • Multi-skilled Technician
    • Proficient in pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems (including troubleshooting up to 480V motors and pumps).
  • Boiler & Refrigeration Background
    • Familiarity with high-pressure boiler systems and Ammonia/glycol refrigeration.
  • Instrumentation & Control Troubleshooting
    • Ability to read P&ID drawings, troubleshoot digital/analog instrumentation, and work with 24VDC control circuits using electrical drawings/testing equipment.
    • Ability to troubleshoot digital and analog instrumentation and analog controlled process valving.
  • PLC Knowledge — plant uses Allen Bradley/Rockwell
    • Experience with PLC-controlled equipment and the ability to interpret control logic for troubleshooting.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with wastewater treatment systems maintenance.
  • Sanitary TIG welding expertise
  • Basic knowledge of personal computer-based equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and radio).
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Food Safety standards.
  • Work safely and maintain an organized work environment.
  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of production machinery & equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant production systems.
  • Repair and install sanitary-type pumps and valves.
  • Repair and maintain 24VDC control circuits.
  • Complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Climb and work safely at heights.
  • Work with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Chemical Safety Procedures.
  • Perform any tasks necessary to ensure a Safe Quality Food product is produced.
  • Perform any and all related duties as may be required or necessary.
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager to meet annual goals of production, maintenance repair goals, special projects, and any jobs deemed necessary.
  • All other tasks as assigned.

  • Pasteurizers (with heat exchangers for heating)
  • Heat Exchangers (for pasteurization)
  • Pneumatic Conveyor System

  • Sanitary Valves (GEA mix-proof valves)
  • CIP Units (Clean-In-Place system with direct steam injection)
  • Boilers (500 HP and 300 HP)
  • Wastewater System 
  • Vacuum Pumps (in each tower)
  • RO water systems
  • HTST processing equipment
  • Powerflex 750 series VFDs — introducing the new TS drives
