Job Title: Journeyman Maintenance Technician

Pay Rate: $40/hr plus any applicable shift differential;  
  • SD: Additional $1.50/hr for hours worked between3p-11p, additional $1.00/hr for hours worked between 11p-7a
  • Overtime is time and a half, Double time after 56 hours

Shift Makeup:

  • Reports to Maintenance Supervisor
  • Shift makeup: 12's 3 on 4 off rotating every other Saturday
  • A & C First shift, 7am – 7:20pm – Sunday-Tuesday/Wednesday-Friday
  • B & D Night Shift, 7pm – 7:20am – Sunday-Tuesday/Wednesday-Friday

Average Hours Per Week: 36-48hrs

Must Have: 60% Electrical 40% Mechanical

  • Journeyman's card in general maintenance or Associates Degree in a related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of electrical experience in industrial maintenance
  • Proficient with blueprints and schematics; hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical drawings as well
  • High and low voltage, AC/DC, drives, servos install and maintenance
  • 3-phase 480V motors, and other power delivery systems
  • PLC and VFD troubleshooting (hardware)
  • Shaft alignment, gearbox troubleshooting, and maintenance 
*Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug screen, background and criminal checks*

Nice to Have:

  • Foundry Experience
  • Siemens PLC – 100%
  • 6 axis robotic experience 
  • Associate Degree in industrial maintenance
Company Description:

Client is an industry leader in braking systems for cars, motorbikes, industrial vehicles, machinery in the OE markets and after-markets/racing. This specific facility in Homer is around 300,00 square feet and is one of their foundry operations. It was built in 2015 with multiple additions and upgrades since. The plant produces around 80,000 tons of brake disc castings annually. Company headquarters are nearby – about 80 miles away in Plymouth, MI.

Primary Responsibilities:

“Maintenance Journeyman are on the frontlines of keeping the Client operating at full capacity. They work to maintain and restore machines to full productivity and offer important insights as to preventative maintenance to be undertaken in the future. Additionally, Journeymen will work to troubleshoot problem machines and seek cost-effective solutions to keep production lines open.”

  • Troubleshooting errors on down machines and creating solutions for effective long-term fixes
  • Reporting and fulfilling work orders for machine maintenance/repair via an electronic filing system
  • Working with teams of fellow technicians to conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on machines
  • Accurately documenting completed work for future reference
  • Ability to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, material and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment capabilities, manufacturing methods, and quality control standards
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical/electronic systems, circuits, and equipment. May also install and maintain electronic controls for various machines. May also connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Checks circuits for proper connections, ensuring electrical compatibility and safety of components. Current knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures. Must rely on verbal and written instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. This position requires someone reliable, on time, and who comes to work every day.

  • Pick and place robotics (6 axis) – KUKA – 13 robotic arms
  • Italian custom equipment designed for Brembo
  • Iron casting
  • Siemens PLC

WORK CONDITIONS
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Exposure to noise, odors, dust/sand (silica), etc.   Operation of equipment required at times.
  • Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 70 pounds as well as standing, bending and twisting, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs/ladders, reaching at or below shoulder level, gross and fine manipulation with hands, stooping, crouching, kneel, crawling, hearing sounds, visual acuity with corrective lenses, work in confined spaces at times.
  • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed work boots. 
  • Working safely is a condition of employment.
