Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate multi‑axis CNC lathes, VTLs, and 5‑axis mill‑turn machines to manufacture precision components
- Optimize existing CNC programs to improve performance, tool life, and part quality
- Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and offsets
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications
- Conduct in‑process and final inspections using manual and automated metrology tools
- Maintain tight tolerances on steel, cast iron, and heat‑resistant alloys
- Monitor machining operations and make real‑time adjustments
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records
- Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams
- Perform routine preventative maintenance
- Follow all safety standards and maintain an organized work environment
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating multi‑axis CNC machines (VTLs or 5‑axis mill‑turn equipment required)
- Familiarity with basic G‑code
- Proficient conducting inspections using manual and automated tools
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T specifications
- Strong multitasking abilities; able to run multiple machines
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform physical job functions
Preferred Skills
- CNC program editing
- Tool & Die background
- Ability to identify KCIs not clearly defined
Schedule
- Days: Monday–Friday
- Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Type: Weekday schedule
- Hours per week: ~40 hours, with 5–8 hours of potential overtime
Requirements
- Willingness to travel 100%
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in a facility manufacturing parts for naval vessels, including motors, frames, brackets, and large assemblies
